Unit 9 Project

I. Introduction

Why is it important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically? What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself?

Psychologically: Professionals must develop this in their career. We must mature in the areas of our mental minds. We must have a mind where we are able to help and have a mind to allow new information to enter in.

Spiritually: Being in a professional, spirituality can seemed to be the easiest, but to me it is very difficult. Be the most basic sense, matters pertaining to the spirit and the idea that there exists something, we must have a spirit that goes beyond our basic five senses. Having a sound mind, body and spirit will help us become a stable person both professionally and as an individual.

Physically: We must stay fit not just for our own health, but to also help those who we counsel. We must set an example for our clients/patients. We must stay healthy and have a great wellness.

Areas of improvement to achieve my goals would be to continue my psychological growth; to initiate meditation both at work and at home, I would love to master this and get in the routine of doing this daily, with no interruptions.

How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spirituality, physically, and psychologically?

Spirituality: In this area, I rate myself and 9; no one is perfect we all need a little help to get to that perfect 10. This is a very important part of my daily life in everything that I do. To have inner peace because of your spirituality is something that can be achieved, if you have the will power and want to live without stress.

Physically: This area is scored a 5. I can really use some improvement. I do not exercise like I should; I would love to exercise for at least 5 days in a row. Although I do enjoy light walking. Always room for improvement.

Psychologically: This is an area that will be a continuous, lifetime goal for me. It is very hard to get my mind trained with so much going on. My mind is the thing that controls me. It takes over my daily life. I rate myself in this as a 5. Need to gain better control of my mind and keep my mind clear of clutter.

List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area: Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual.

Physical: To daily exercise at least 6 days a week, by doing cardio, running and exercising and eating right.

Psychological: To continue to grow mentally by using meditation, to speak positive words to others.

Spiritual: To daily utilize inner peace through spirituality.

IV. What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains: Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual? Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.

Physical: To achieve my goal of a 6-day exercise, I can began by starting out with 3-day a week exercising and set goals. I am currently barely at 2 days a week. I am planning on achieving this goal by the end of August.

Psychological: Finding ways to handle my stress, by relaxation, mediation and thinking positive daily. Try to live a stress free life, with no negative thoughts or people. Having good mental health will determine how healthy my body is, and I want to live long enough to see my great-great grandkids graduate college. I want to be in the longest living female that ever lived.

Spiritual: The strategy for spiritual growth for me is implement affirmations throughout the day. This is an ongoing thing for me. But I will implement this daily and with everything that I do.

V. How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long term practices for health and wellness?

The best way for me to track my progress is to begin a daily journal. I normally do write things down but it is mostly my dreams. The strategies that I will be working on are to work on subtle mind techniques, which are very much needed in my life. Exercise mental and physical health, meditation. Always surround myself with positive people, and stay away from any negativity.

  1. Great post Crystal, I agree that a journal is the best way to track your progress. I believe that by setting your mind to be positive at the time will make a big difference in your life, it happened to me. I have learned that everything happens for a reason and something good comes out of every bad situation.
